THE MCGOLDRICK FAMILY

Sisters Ciara and Catherine will be joined by cousin Mairead and guitarist Jimmy to perform Irish songs and tunes from their recent family album, ‘One for the Road’ [released January 16, 2024].

•    Mairead – whistle/bodhran
•    Jimmy – Patrick guitar 

Catherine and Ciara both developed their skills studying Traditional Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, exploring the thriving traditional music scene in Glasgow. They have played at numerous UK festivals, including Celtic Connections, Craic by the Creek, Knutsford and Bromyard Folk Festival. The duo was awarded the Youth Folk Award at the Allen Valleys Folk Festival.

 

Mairead, brings her own exceptional talent as All-Ireland whistle champion and 3rd place bodhrán medalist to the mix. Her rhythmic prowess provides the backbone of the band’s infectious grooves. They are joined on guitar by Jimmy Patrick, who originates from Barrow-in-Furness. Jimmy’s musical journey includes formal education in music at Newcastle University, which, combined with his global travels and residencies, has enabled him to assimilate a range of international guitar techniques, subsequently infusing his playing with a distinctive flair. His performances have graced stages across the UK, Ireland, Europe, Scandinavia, and Asia.
