UNESCO BIOSPHERE IOM

Yn Chruinnaght are proud to be a UNESCO Biosphere IOM Partner. In recent years it has become increasingly important for the Celtic Gathering festival to promote sustainability.

Eco friendly wrist bandsWe have been very innovative when it comes to using less plastic. In previous years we have ordered all our merchandise, boxed up without individual plastic bags, used reclaimed glasses and mugs instead of plastic glasses for the water station and created our own Manx tartan ribbon festival wrist bands with a metal clasp as it was almost impossible to find plastic free ones!

We also provide water refill stations for all performers and audience members and where possible, have purchased sustainably packaged, local snacks and drinks as riders for performers and for their corporate evenings.

Everything is recycled.

The festival is based in Peel – with lunchtime sessions at Noa Bakehouse in Douglas – and accommodation is provided for performers in Peel itself to reduce miles travelled and keep our carbon footprint low. The final Saturday is a family gathering based in Peel, focused on local performers and local crafters.

We are super grateful to all of our sponsors this year including:
